Pensioner ‘shocked’ at £20,000 bingo win

A GREAT-GRANDMOTHER from Runcorn has hit the jackpot by scooping more than £20,000 in winnings from bingo.

The overjoyed 66-year-old, who does not want to be named, is sticking to an agreement she made by sharing the money with her sister.

The lucky pair were playing at the Gala Club in the Windmill Centre, Widnes on Monday, April 23, when good fortune struck.

The grandmother to 14 and great-grandmother of three won the National Bingo Afternoon Delight Game prize of £20,000, plus the regional prize of £608 and the house prize of £50, after completing a full house in 40 numbers, the lowest call in any of the 500 clubs playing nationwide.

She said: ‘I can’t get over it. It’s been such a shock. I just sat there and cried when I was told I had won.’

The woman has been a Gala member for four years and plays twice a week with her sister. Her previous biggest win was £500.

She intends to treat her family with the money and is also planning a holiday with her husband.
